Suspect facing charges of DUI and vehicular manslaughter near Knights Landing bails out after judge denies CHP’s request for “no bail”

Ismael Huazo-Jardinez, a illegal 33-year-old Yuba City resident was drunk driving when he crashed into a parked trailer near Knights Landing, killing three people and hospitalizing an 11-year-old girl last Saturday.

The California Highway Patrol stated “Huazo-Jardinez was driving a Chevrolet Avalanche at a “high rate of speed” on Highway 113 when he failed to slow for a curve north of Jennings Court. His truck left the road and crashed into the parked trailer.”

Those killed in the accident were the Pachecos family, which consisted of a 38-year-old man, 34-year old woman, and a 10-year-old boy. The 11-year-old girl was flown to UC Davis, and is listed in critical condition and has been through multiple surgeries.

Huazo-Jardinez was booked into Sutter County Jail. He faces charges of Felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

Monday, Jardinez bonded out of jail despite a request filed by CHP for “no bail” that was denied by a judge.

Huazo-Jardinez is now schedules to appear in court on June 10th.


Update : Jardinez has been taken into custody today by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Huazo-Jardinez was apprehended in Arizona eight years ago and voluntarily returned to Mexico, according to ICE spokesman Paul Prince. ICE does not know when he illegally returned to the U.S.
