Felon booked into Yuba County Jail on multiple weapon charges

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department responded when a neighbor in the 900 block of Mryna Ave, Olivehurst called 911 about a suspicious figure lurking in the area.

Darrel Higginbotham, a 52 year old resident of Fernley, Nevada and a convicted felon, was taken into custody on February 28th.

Higginbotham was found to be weilding a fully loaded .45 caliber handgun and a leather impact weapon, also known as a sap.

He was also found to have an active restraining order, in which he was not allowed to posses firearms.

Upon search of Darrel Higginbotham’s vehicle, police found multiple weapons and magazines. The weapons found include 6 handguns, a shotgun, and 2 short-barreled assault rifles.

2 of the handguns were found to be stolen property.

The suspect was booked into Yuba County Jail on stolen property and weapon charges.
